Before the 12" MacBook, before the 11" MacBook Air, there was the 9" ASUS Eee PC hackintosh, and there were a number of new-to-macOS developers in our community who learned how to develop for iPhone on this very setup, and started their careers from it.

The Eee PC 901 netbook was priced at, you guessed it, the same $599 as the brand-new incredibly-powerful MacBook Neo

Some good news: I don't know if Apple had a change of heart or what, but you *can* enable Xcode's intelligence features on the MacBook Neo with 8GB RAM, including ChatGPT and Codex support. Previously, this was limited to 16GB devices — I have no idea when that switch happened? 😯 Regardless, great move, clearly intended for this device

Much as you don't generally go auditing the bytecode or intermediate representation generated by your compiler, I think the idea of manually reviewing LLM-written code will fall by the wayside too. Like it or not, these agents are the new compilers, and prompting them is the new programming. Regardless of what happens with any AI bubble, this is just how things will be from now on; we've experienced a permanent, irreversible increase to the level of abstraction. We are all assembly programmers

"The exact number of images, slides, and presenter notes that you can generate varies based on the complexity of the queries, server availability, and network availability. At a minimum per month, if used exclusively, you can: Generate 50 images Generate 50 presentations (with approximately 8–10 slides each) Generate presenter notes for 700 slides" That doesn't actually mean '50 presentations', that means 50 attempts at inserting generated slides. Went back to check out some of the new paywalled AI features in iWork. The AI image generator is just a duplicate of the existing Image Playground with less fancy UI and more refinement options 😅 Calls out to OpenAI just the same… Subscription money well spent.

All of the Creator Studio apps are now Universal Purchase SKUs, retiring the old Mac versions and doubling down on the iOS app records instead. That goes for Final Cut and Logic, too. This means a unified store page showing the different platforms, and new Adam IDs for the apps if you previously linked to the versions on the Mac App Store anywhere in your apps, sites, docs or books

@wtrmt@mastodon.social I mean, it's a small iPad, it acts like a small iPad 😅 I don't know that there's anything particularly off about the mini itself in 26. It's cramped, and it's not as powerful as the bigger iPads
