Well after negotiating with USC's IT group, my wife has finally been given the definitive answer that even if they wanted to they couldn't enable her to use Google Takeout on the shared drives where all her lab data is stored, as it just doesn't work on shared drives. So after all that stuff we went through to design an alternative way to back up almost 2 decades of data, she's back to square one. Putting your data in Google Drive is pretty much a one-way operation. Don't do it!
